North Dakota Women's StartUp Weekend Invites Participants
Registration is open for the event April 17-19, 2015
Fargo, ND March 18, 2015/North Dakota Women's StartUp Weekend/- North Dakota's second annual Women's StartUp Weekend will be held April 17-19 at the Dakota Medical Foundation Complex in Fargo, North Dakota.
Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation.
The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback. Whether entrepreneurs found companies, find a cofounder, meet someone new, or learn a skill far outside their usual 9-to-5, everyone is guaranteed to leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups.
Last year's event attracted women from all of the state and launched the career of 24 year old Courtny Evanson, who came with a rough idea for a breast pumping table that would allow new mothers to relax. She now has a patented prototype and was named Entrepreneur of the Year by Emerging Prairie. She will give the Kick-off Keynote on Friday evening.
The presentations and awards ceremony will be Sunday evening and we welcome award-wining entrepreneur and CEO of WorkingMomsOnly.com MaryEllen Tribby. Tribby hails from Boca Raton, Florida and has a long history of success in the publishing world, including Crain's Business Journal of New York.
